TamKalinangan: A Community Extension Program on Mathematics and Science Refresher for Incoming First-Year College Students in Valenzuela City
To provide academic refresher and tutorial support in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry for incoming first-year college students.
About this event
Incoming first-year college students often experience difficulty adjusting to college-level subjects, particularly in Mathematics and Science. These subjects serve as foundation courses in many degree programs, especially in engineering, technology, health sciences, and other science-related fields. However, due to differences in academic preparation, learning environments, and retention of previous lessons, some students may enter college with gaps in their foundational knowledge.
To help address this concern, the iTamKalinangan program is proposed as a community extension activity that will provide refresher tutorial sessions in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. The program aims to support incoming first-year college students in Valenzuela City by strengthening their basic competencies, improving their academic confidence, and preparing them for the demands of college-level learning.
This activity will be implemented in partnership with Angat Kabataan Valenzuela, which will help in reaching and organizing the target beneficiaries. Through this collaboration, the program supports SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting accessible learning support and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through institutional and community partnership.
